Where may I rent a pressure canner and is this different from a pressure cooker?

Question by Aimee P: Where may I rent a pressure canner and is this different from a pressure cooker?
My fiance is in the Navy and sure would like some of my home cooked soups, meatballs and sauce etc...but the pressure canner is quite costly. Would love to be able to rent one for the weekend and cook up a storm and provide him with some home cooked love.

I have never seen any place that rents them, but you can buy a 22 qt pressure canner [not cooker] for about $ 125.00 at ace hardware.com

What roof top was that pressure cooker lid found on recently from the Boston Bombings?

Question by Newsh: What roof top was that pressure cooker lid found on recently from the Boston Bombings?
Recently on the news I heard that a lid from the pressure cooker was found on top of a building. Is there a picture of the building somewhere, or what building was it? What was it's location in proximity to the finish line of the Boston Marathon? I'm just looking at youtube videos of footage to see if I see anybody on the roof tops, and I think I've seen a couple people, but they might be camera crew, and one other person that commented, pointed out that there was something on top of one building, but it could have been just an electric tower of some sort on top of the roof.
That makes sense Don, thanks for clearing things up, no more speculating on my part.

How can I separate out the fat from my chicken stock if it's been overheated?

Question by LeAnne12: How can I separate out the fat from my chicken stock if it's been overheated?
I tried making stock using my electric pressure cooker but instead of a clear broth and layer of fat, it looks like broth that was boiled too hard- the fat is suspended in the cloudy broth. Is there a way to reheat or something so it will separate back out?

First I don't advocate using a pressure cooker to make this type of stock, having said that you are at a point you need help. try putting the mixture in the coolest part of the fridge until it sets then scrape off the fat.
Afterwards bring back to the boil and simmer gently for a good while , more fat will rise to be taken off
The more its simmered the more it will reduce and the more fat will appear.

2 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

Cream sugar and butter together until light. Add eggs and vanilla to creamed mixture and beat until thoroughly mixed. Add flour mixture to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition. Continue beating one minute. Spread batter evenly in prepared pans. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool layers in pans on wire racks 10 minutes. Remove from pans; cool completely. Fill and frost as desired.
