If you can cook a roast in 40 minutes, doesn't it dry out, or does it taste like it was in the cooked in the oven and still juicy?

Question by Liberal Atheist: Why do my grandparents say clothes, shoes, jewelery and furinture were better in the olden days?
Such as the 1940's, 1950's, 1960's.

They tell me their shoes, clothes and jewelery were of much better quality and that furinture and appliences lasted much longer than they do now.
ps - My grandmother still has a hair dryer that she brought in 1947 and my grandfather still has shoes he got in 1956.
