Fast Food My Way

Fast Food My Way

Fast Food My Way

In Jacques Pépin Fast Food My Way, the man who taught millions of Americans how to cook shares the techniques he honed in the most famous kitchens of the world to show you how to create simple, special meals in minutes.
In this companion volume to his new series on public television, Jacques shows you how to create great-tasting dishes ranging from stunning salads such as Tomato and Mozzarella Fans to Supreme of Chicken with Balsamic Vinegar and Shallot Sauce to his breathtaking Almond Cake with Berries, all special enough for company, yet easy enough for those weekday evenings when you have no time.
Fast food Jacques’s way involves no compromises in taste but saves you hours in the kitchen. His Instant Beef Tenderloin Stew, for instance, not only is far faster to make than traditional versions, but tastes brighter and fresher. With concise, clear directions, Jacques shares the secrets of his kitchen. He teaches you how to season a salmon fillet perfectly and cook it in a low oven, right on the serving platter. You'll learn how to make a satisfying homemade vegetable soup in seconds, a baked potato in half the usual time, and a succulent roast that takes minutes, not hours, to prepare. He also shows you how to create elegant meals from convenience foods: a bean dip that will keep guests coming back for more, silky soups, and caramelized peaches made from canned peaches.
With Jacques Pépin Fast Food My Way at your side, the best food is always the simplest.
Over time, in his cookbooks, and on his TV series, Jacques Pépin has taught people how to cook simple, fully flavored dishes--food that reflects his French training while embracing American informality. Jacques Pépin: Fast Food My Way takes this approach one step further by providing 100-plus recipes for a wide range of delicious, meant-to-be fast dishes. These include Stuffed Scallops on Mushroom Rice; Chicken Breasts on Mashed Cauliflower with Red Salsa; Pasta, Ham, and Vegetable Gratin; and Apple, Pecan, and Apricot Crumble. The "my way" of the title can mean the use of time-saving tools (Pépin uses pressure cookers to achieve easy stews like his beef short-rib, mushroom, and potato dish) and convenience foods (canned black bean soup or sweet potatoes for new soup versions). Generally, though, the Pépin approach emphasizes the use of foods that are themselves quickly cooked, like chicken breasts or beef fillet and that can be made flavorful with equally fast-to-fix accompaniments, like his salsa mayonnaise or his tomato-olive sauce.

Fast is, of course, a relative term, and readers will find more than a few dishes in the book that may require more time or attention than they're willing to spend on a daily basis. But overall, the book offers enough easily made recipes, and super-time-saving formulas, like Instant Vegetable Soup, to make it a true cooking resource. --Arthur Boehm

Is helping the most oppressed people in a country considered racism?

Question by Queeny: Is helping the most oppressed people in a country considered racism?
If so was USA discriminating to help the white Jews in Germany?
If so is helping the poor and not the rich discriminatory?
Are mestizo latinos helping mestizo latinos discriminatory in Latin America?

Then why is helping black people ONLY discriminatory?<
Why do black people listen to whites? Why do they say "they should help themselves"? when those are the exact words the white man said about us(but not about themselves?)

My family has gained much in life, and my father dedicated his youth to helping blacks in our community. We have always gone against mainstream society. Which many black youth are ignorant and starting to adopt white society into their own lives

When you gain achievement and education you want to spread that to others, not be selfish and say "they can get their own"<
If you got it on your own, then who gave you your job? Who gave you the opportunities you have now? Obviously many black people had to die for the few rights we have now..so no, you didn't get it on your own.

The hard truth of the matter is that white Americans [{--->hate<---}] Blacks, and will do anything in their power to make sure they are as miserable as humanly possible

Forget about reparations, its never going to happen. White people don't even care about the racism that's going on today, let alone what went on in the past

@ anonymous: LOL. You are effing hilarious. Black Americans BUILT America you idiot, 350 years of slavery launched America forward economically at a pace that would never otherwise have happened, added to that is the fact that practically every vestige of American culture has it's roots in Black communities, from rock & roll to Jazz, to disco . Then there are the oceans of inventions blacks created but will never get credit for as long as white men are writing the "history" books

Why does my gas stove not bake well?

Question by bella log: Why does my gas stove not bake well?
Just bought a new gas range. I always had a gas range with propane. We needed a new one. Boy I'm not sure if this range is defected or I am not doing something right. Well being that we just purchased this range a 2wks prior to christmas is not the greatest when you need to do some serious baking. Tried the oven for the 1st time. Okay so I understand all ovens varies but this is ridiculous. The recipe calls for 350 degrees 10-15mins bake. First batch it took more than 15mins and they were still very light color on top. I couldn't believe I never had to bake cookies for over 15mins. Did these same cookies in the prior gas stove not for this long. Put the 2nd batch same degrees and time and they burnt. Third batch lowered the time and they weren't cook so had to up it. This is crazy. This stove is only 2wks old. Called the store where I purchased the stove and they sent a service guy. He checked the temp. He actually told me that the temp of the stove was 25 degrees too high so he lowered it. Okay. We decided to test the oven again and bake more cookies. He seemed to have made it even worse. The cookies wouldn't rise, were flat, and took longer to bake. The cookies were soo hard. We threw them out. We decided to play with the temp. and we actually had to go 50 degrees higher than what the recipe said. More now that the service guy decrease the temp 25 degrees. They did rise somewhat but still very light on top and seems to take long. I have major baking to do for christmas breads, cookies, etc. I wish they would take the stupid stove back. What do I do from here? Do I call the service guy again? He seemed to have screwed it up even more. What is wrong with this stove? Never had this problem with my other gas range. Its soo true they don't make them like they use too. I should have gotten the convention oven. Please any advice would be great.
This is a brand NEW stove........

You just need to clean the gas stove pipe as there might have some dirt which comes from the stove and do check its burner by piercing the holes of it

Make Every Type of Rice

NP-HBC18
Brown Rice

This is a menu setting designed to cook delicious brown rice. In order to cook hard rice bran and the rice inside, preheating time is extended for better absorption of water, and is cooked at a lower temperature to allow the rice to cook longer without becoming mushy.

Sushi Rice

Because sushi rice will be processed after it's cooked, it's easier to handle when it is a little firmer. This menu setting is very similar to regular white rice, but uses less water (adjusted by the water fill lines) for a firm finish.

Mixed Rice

Mixed rice is rice cooked with additional ingredients and seasonings. This setting extends preheating for better absorption of seasoning. Also, the cooking temperature is slightly lower than regular white rice, to avoid ingredients from boiling over.

Porridge

Instead of cooking rice in larger amounts of water and risk making it sloppy, use the porridge setting to cook fluffy porridge. Cooking temperature is slightly lower than regular white rice, to be cooked longer for soft texture.

GABA Brown Rice

A newly discovered way of cooking brown rice to "activate" it and increase natural occurring gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), an amino acid in brown rice believed to have health giving properties such as lowering blood pressure, improving kidney function and relieving stress. The brown rice is "activated" by soaking it at 104°F for 2 hours before the actual cooking begins. All Induction Heating System rice cookers, including the IH Pressure models, have the GABA brown rice setting.

MICOM (Microcomputer) Technology

Aided by microcomputer technology, this category of rice cooker takes having rice on your menu from occasional to serious. MICOM allows the cooker to have multiple functions on its menu, making it a necessity for any avid rice fan who wants to incorporate rice into her daily diet. The microchip does all the thinking for you by, based on the type of rice you are cooking, from adjusting cooking times, temperatures, and timing the pre-soak of the raw grains to the final "wait" period during steaming.

Conventional rice cookers simply turn on and off in reaction to temperature. The "fuzzy logic" of MICOM fine-tunes this adjustment to adapt to various rice types, such as white, brown, sweet or porridge, which all have different cooking requirements. The trigger to everything is the thermal sensor, a small round button at the bottom of the inner body of the cooker. As the inner pan's weight rests on it and activates the sensor, it starts the cooking process and keeps an eye on the temperature and time.

Induction Heating (IH) system for precise temperature control

Induction Heating took rice cooking to another level by introducing another dimension to the heating process. Where the heating element would normally be located at the bottom of the cooker, IH transforms the entire inner cooking pan into a heat conductor, allowing for higher, more precise and more uniform cooking temperatures.

Induction heating occurs when a magnetic material enters a magnetic field. This is recreated by passing an electric current through coils located at the bottom of the rice cooker's body. As the special, 2-ply inner cooking pan is placed inside, a magnetic field is created, which in turn generates instant heat. The entire cooking pan becomes the heat source, with the ability to cook at higher temperatures, which can be turned on and off instantly for greater control.

NP-HBC18
Spherical inner cooking pan and heating system provide even heating for perfectly cooked rice
NP-HBC18
Accessories include rice measuring cup, nonstick rice spatula and spatula holder

A few questions about canning and pickling. Anyone?

Question by sodakians: A few questions about canning and pickling. Anyone?
I have several pounds of jalapenos that I would like to pickle. I found a couple instructional videos online as well as a few written recipes. My main question is about the pressure cooker. I have been told by some that as long as everything is well sterilized and the brine was brought to a proper boil, there is no need to use the cooker. Is this true? Also, the cooker I have is made for a gas stove. Mine is a flat range electric, so I don't dare use it. Are there any alternatives? The last question is about the recipes themselves. Most of them consist of white vinegar, water and sugar (herbs and garlic optional). I have also read that the sugar will "tame" the jalapenos. I do not want them to be "tamed". Is the sugar absolutely necessary in the process to preserve them, or is it for the taste?

Thanks in advance for anyone who can help. It's much appreciated!

Which is best for stove top cooking, electric or gas range?

Question by patience: Which is best for stove top cooking, electric or gas range?

Best answer:

Answer by TX2step
Most people seem to like gas, but I hate it. I've converted gas stoves to electric in the last 4 houses I've lived in:) I've had smoothtop cooktops for 30+ years, and would never have anything else. They're easy to clean; heat up quickly and evenly; and you can use them as extra counter space when you aren't cooking......

Final Destination 5 by me?

Question by Brandon: Final Destination 5 by me?
1st Tragedy: A school dance is being held at the school library and almost all 8th graders are participating in this particular event. The theme is typically Heaven and Hell(The teens that cheated death were with the Hell side). Suddenly, an unsuspecting earthquake strikes and the 2 sides of the library collapses and blocks the only 2 exits in the library. Then, the shaking continues and topples a large bucket of water onto the stereo system causing a major electric shock to a few students and then exploding killing about 8 students. The explosion causes the roof of the library to crack and break. Debris starts falling on the students and the bookshelves topple everywhere. The protagonist gets stuck under a large piece of debris after the whole disaster. Then, a still hanging debris falls on him and then he wakes up from his vision, still standing in line to enter the dance. He warns the students that there is going to be a major earthquake and everyone is gonna die in the library. A few of the students started arguing with him and then a fight began. The principal comes out and breaks up the fight and then telling the 13 students that they cannot enter the dance. They all get frustrated and angered at that student. Then, 10 minutes later, the students feel a rumbling shake beneath their feet and they can see the library caving in. Then, a piece of debris topples onto 2 of the students. The rest screamed and ran away to get some nearby help.

Death List(random order)
1. A girl slides down a homemade water slide in her backyard, not knowing that a tube piece is tilting and that the bolts have been taken out by Death. She slides down right into the broken piece, slicing her body vertically.
2. While doing his homework, the hot sun is shooting right at him and he starts to get hot, so he turns on the ceiling fan to max and continues doing his homework. The speed and pressure of the fan is so strong that the fan starts to break from the ceiling, typically falling down and decapitating his head.
3. A boy decides to take a shower since the weather is so hot, but first, he needs to take a dump before showering(Be warned, this might be a little too gross). He turns on his fan before doing so. He had eaten a bean and cheese burrito before pooping and he has diarrhea. Once he flushes, the waste gets clogged and the water starts to elevate and pour out. He panics and he tries to open the door but the door knob breaks off and he is stuck in his own bathroom. He tries to plunge out all the waste but failed to do so, so he runs towards the door, slips on the water and knocks down the fan. The fan breaks and electrocutes him to death.
4. While making rice for her family, a girl washes the dishes before her parents arrive home. As she washes the dishes, she places the wet dishes into the dish rack and accidentally spills water onto the plug to the rice cooker. It starts to make static noises and still she doesn't know it. After she was done with the dishes, she walks away, but then hears a loud crackling pop. She goes to the source and it explodes the rice cooker near her. A piece of hot metal shoots at her mouth and burns inside her mouth. She quickly takes it out and tries to cool down her mouth, but the debris flew to the gas stove and it quickly ignites and explodes. The fire burns her and it explodes her home.
5. A boy is exhausted from the heat and decides to go cool off in his canvas tent out back. Although there is hot winds blowing by, he doesn't mind because his canvas is cool. But the rusted supports of his tent start to creak. The boy doesn't mind it though and thinks nothing will go wrong. But then a strong wind blows and the support breaks off, swinging down at his head, impaling him on the back of his head.
6. While on the busy streets, girl's mom is taking her daughter to a friends house with her friend. As they park on the sidewalk lane, cars are rushing by on the girls side of the car. Her friend insists that she goes out her way, but the traffic clears up and then she says that she will exit her way. She opens the door stands up and a bus comes rushing at her and crashes into her and the door.
7. A bunch of bullies decide to flatten a boy's bike tires, just before he would leave for home. 5 minutes later, the boy comes out and rides it out onto the bike lane. As he is driving, he runs over a sharp nail and it makes his front and back tire even worse. He swerves and swerves and then his bike tilts and he falls into a car lane. An upcoming truck comes up and the tires smashes the boy head and feet into a pancake.
8. While at a pool party, the friends are in the jacuzzi and a girl decides to head out for the big pool. The other friends stayed behind in the jacuzzi. As she nears the big pool, there is no one in there so she says to herself that this is even much better. She heads to a chair near a control booth and presses a button to open the pool covers. The covers slide out and she jumps in to
This is totally fake! These are my ideals of a 5th movie, but this time revolving around middle schoolers, not high schoolers/adults.

There is suppose to be 11 deaths total but my writing exceeded the limit. I will give you brief notes on how 8,9,10 and 11 die: 8: Metal pool covers slice her body in half. 9: Car explodes with the boy in it at a gas station. 10: An explosion in a major traffic accident causes a vehicle to fly directly at her. 11: Dies when large glass shards from car windows are shot at his eye during the traffic explosion. :] Hehe. Can you imagine how painful these deaths could be?
Final Destination V description: A 13 year old boy, Hendrick Michaels sees a horrific vision of a major earthquake destroying the school library where the 8th grade dance is being held. He wakes up from his horrific vision only to find out that his dream had become real. 2 months after the tragic incident, the survivors mysteriously start to die and it becomes clear to Hendrick that Death will not stop until fate has been fulfilled. Kuhn Rikon 3342 5-1/4-Quart Stainless-Steel Pressure Cooker Reviews

Rev up your kitchen with the "Mercedes-Benz of pressure cookers." Features five over-pressure safety systems, UL listed. Integrated automatic locking system. 18/10 stainless steel will not interact with food and is dishwasher safe. Solid thermal aluminum sandwich. For even browning and rapid heat absorption. Stainless steel steaming plate. New generation spring-loaded precision valve. User-friendly operation. Interior fill lines. 10-year warrantee on all non-replaceable parts, material and workmanship. Quick Cuisine Cookbook, a .00 value - free. Suggested Uses: Whole 3.5 chicken; 4 lb. roasts; soups; stews; chili; cheesecake; corn-on-the-cob; dinner for 6-8.Beginning in the 1930s, two successive generations of busy cooks used pressure cookers to prepare family meals. The next generation, with memories of valves dancing and hissing on stovetops, snubbed pressure cookers. Now pressure cookers have come back, those old valves replaced by modern versions that ensure safety while delivering the speed, ease, and nutritional benefits of pressure cooking. Pressure cooking also saves 70 percent of the energy normally consumed while cooking.

This heavyweight, stainless-steel beauty is a fine example of contemporary engineering and style. Its mirror finish gleams, and its black handles--including a loop handle for two-handed lifting--stay cool. Pressure-cooking traps steam to heat foods at temperatures higher than boiling. An aluminum disk in the base, sandwiched by stainless steel, speeds the process even more through fast heat conductivity. It's safe on electric, gas, ceramic, and induction stovetops. Little water is required, so nutrients, flavor, and color are not boiled away. Vegetables emerge vibrantly colored from the steamer insert. Stews, soups, beans--even meat loaf, pork chops, and desserts such as bread pudding--come out tasty and nutritious. (A booklet containing dozens of recipes is included.) You can brown meats in the pot before the lid is locked on, or use the pot without the lid. The stem of the operating valve shows high and low pressure so you can adjust heat for different foods. After cooking, the pressure can be reduced slowly (just let the cooker sit for a while), normally (press the pressure indicator), or quickly (run tepid water on the lid's rim).

Safety measures abound: the lid twists onto the pot; a rubber gasket ensures a tight seal. A vent releases steam if pressure builds too high, as does a valve that also locks the lid when any pressure whatsoever is inside the cooker. Cleanup is a bit involved: hand wash the pot, gasket, and lid with a mild detergent, then lightly oil the gasket. Normally the valve is self-cleaning, but if food passes through it, disassembly is required. Minor cleaning inconvenience, though, should not overshadow the major convenience of pressure cooking. --Fred Brack

Electric autoclaves can be automatic (they stop heating at the end of the cycle, so you don't have to be there al the time), while stovetop autoclaves are basically a dedicated pressure cooker. Both do the job equally as well, if they are good models.

    Making coffee-please explain!?

Question by edidisangro: Making coffee-please explain!?
OK, so I just got into the habit of having a coffee now and then--I like a strong cup with a tiny dash of milk. I'll have espresso or capuccino maybe if I'm in a restaurant. But, my parents left me a coffee maker as I was going to university. It's a bialetti espresso maker, the kind you heat on a stove-in my case, an electric cooker. Could someone please explain this process to me-I've used cafetieres but I feel out of my depth here. I also don't know what kind of bean suits this process. Any thoughts would be really appreciated as I'm dying for a cup! Cheers.

    Best answer:

    Answer by Sine kwa non
I have a stove -top coffee maker, but it is an old Italian one and possibly different to yours. Mine has three pieces; the base is filled with water, a metal basket which fits into the base holds the coffee, and the top section screws onto the base. You need ground coffee which should be firmly pressed into the basket with a spoon. I have no idea if this helps or not. Good luck, coffee deprivation is a horrible thing. Use a low temperature to avoid boiling the water too vigorously.

Does anyone have an online source for Natto??

Question by larry h: Does anyone have an online source for Natto??

    Best answer:

    Answer by Bridgette W
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natto

Note: Please read the entire recipe first and make a note of the ingredients and utensils that will be needed. The starter culture must be obtained from store-bought natto, unless you have other sources such as rice straw.

    1. Soak two cups of dried soybeans overnight in ten cups of water.

    2. Put the soybeans in a stainless steel basket (or colander) and cover it with a piece of cloth slightly larger than the basket.

    3. Put the above in a pressure cooker with 3 cups water, and place it on the stove. Turn on the stove.

    4. After the pressure cooker starts hissing, turn down the flame so that the hissing is at its minimum level.

    5. Cook for 15 minutes (measured from the time the hissing has started).

    6. DO NOT OPEN the pressure cooker yet. Allow the pressure cooker and its contents to cool down. If waiting is not your style, place the pressure cooker in the sink filled with cold water. (The soy beans are considered to have cooled down as long as its temperature is below 140 degrees F.)

    7. Make sure that the kitchen counter and its surrounding area are absolutely clean. Sterilize a tablespoon with boiling water.

    8. Wash your hands and arms - long-sleeved shirts not recommended.

    9. Have a package of commercial natto ready.

    10. Open the lid of the pressure cooker, peel back the cloth cover to one end of the basket, and using the tablespoon, quickly mix in about two spoonfuls of natto starter with the beans. Replace the cloth cover.

    11. Close the pressure cooker lid with its air relief hole uncovered.

    12. Place the cooker in a picnic ice-chest and place an electric heating pad over it. Replace the ice-chest cover.

The natto will be ready in between 24 and 48 hours, depending on the temperature of the heating pad. As an alternate heat source, a 7.5-watt lightbulb may be used. If you don't have a pressure cooker, a regular pot may be used. In this case, the cooking time will need to be increased to about two hours, and the amount of cooking water to about six cups.

What heat element to use for canning?

Question by Debbie H: What heat element to use for canning?
Hi, I started canning this year. I canned tomatoes, jellies, peaches, meats, etc. so I use both the bath and pressure cooker method. My problem is that I have a smooth top stove and I had to use a stock pot for a bath canner because of the flatter bottom. So I couldn't can only 5 qt per time. This took forever. I will be canning more this year so I need to find a different way. Suggestions have been to buy a cheap electric stove to put in the basement, a portable electric burner, one of those propane burners to go outside. I don't know what would be best as far as convenience and expense. But would like the best all around way. I might add that I have an attached garage, a basement, a porch outside my kitchen (not covered) with a plug and a porch out front (covered)with a plug. What would you suggest?

I would think a used propane stove from a camping trailer might be a good choice. The propane gives you much more control over the heat and the size might be good for your use.

What is a good way to end this project?

Question by Sundjata S: What is a good way to end this project?
I wrote the history project but i dont know how to finish it. It's about the history of engines and how they helped the world.
Engines are the basis of suburbanization and they allow us to go to work and visit our friends and families. But have you ever thought about where they came from. They are a very significant part of history and many things would have been different if it hadn’t been for engines.
The steam engine was the first real type of engine. Thomas Savery was the inventor of the steam engine. He was the first to patent his version of the steam engine. It was first used to pump water in and out of coal mines. His design was based a pressure cooker invented by Denis Papin in 1679. Savery had a partner named Thomas Newcomen who worked with him as a blacksmith. Newcomen came to improve on the original design by adding pistons to it. This improved the efficiency and power of the engine. James watt was known for his work with Thomas Edison. He is also known for creating the watt system we use today. Watt made the final improvements to the steam engine. His modifications used about 75% less coal than the Newcomen design used.
The steam engine is an important part of history. The steam engine was the start of mass production in factories. Stationary steam engines were used in almost every factory in Britain. Some of the first uses of the steam engines were in mills on wheat grinders. The use of the steam engine pushed production up substantially which was an important part of the industrial revolution.
The automobile is a very important part of history and everyday life. The automobile was created around the late 1800’s and no one is really sure who created the first model. Karl Benz gets most of the credit for the car design. His design of the car was fueled by gasoline and was powered by an internal combustion engine. He patented the design in 1891 and he became the largest manufacturer of the automobile for his time. There were 100’s of different models of the automobile being sold around the world soon after the first Benz car. Steam engines couldn’t be incorporated into the car design because of its tendency to explode. At the time gas was abundant and cheap so it wasn’t a problem then to have a gas engine then. The steam engine was then limited to mostly boats and trains. The engines we use in cars today are internal combustion engines. There were many different models like the kerosene models made by George Brayton in 1873. But Nicolaus Otto invented an effective four-stroke combustion engine which he called the “Otto cycle engine”. He built it on a motorcycle and his engine and his engine was adopted to every liquid fueled automobile.
By 1894 races were very popular. In 1895 “The race of the century” was held in Chicago and the winner Charles E. Duryea was famous. In 1896 the Duryea brothers were the first in America to sell cars off a production line. One of the thirteen cars sold went to Barnum and Baailey for even more fame and publicity. The horse and carriage were becoming outdated and people thought that horses were hard to deal with and they were better off with a car that doesn’t get tired and doesn’t need to be fed or cared for as often as a horse. Cars didn’t produce waste that had to be cleaned or picked up and they didn’t get sick. Horses produce about 30lbs of feces each day which dirtied the roads and the air causing lung problems in children who had to play around it. Horses were often mistreated and would collapse on the roads from exhaustion. Cars were replacing horses simply because they caused less problems and they were more reliable. Before cars people had to live near they’re work place in order to be at work on time which caused congestion in cities and towns. Cars were able to go farther and run longer which allowed people to live farther away from they’re work places, friends and family.
Electric vehicles have been around since the early 1800’s. The electric car was invented by Robert Anderson. More successful version of the electric vehicle were invented by Thomas Davenport and Robert Davidson who were the first to use non-rechargeable electric cells. Micheal Faraday was the inventor of the electric motor. He was a physicist and chemist. He began experiments in 1831 when he discovered electromagnetic induction which is the basis of modern electromagnetic technology. Michael Faraday discovered that if you rotate a copper disc between the poles of a horseshoe magnet it created a steady current of electricity. This discovery led to electric motors generators and transformers. Gaston Plante invented a storage battery in 1865. Camille Faure improved the capacity of the of the battery allowing electric vehicles to flourish. The electric tricycle William Morrison invented an electric powered wagon in the same year. These inventions brought American interest in electric vehicles. In 1897 a fleet of taxis were sent to New York which was the first commercial applicat

The purpose of a conclusion is to bring your essay or report full circle. In other words, you want to summarize what is the essence or gist of your paper, imprint the final lasting impression on the reader's mind and - this is what I mean by full circle - repeat a theme, phrase or idea found prominently in the introduction. Thus you could write something to the effect, "Engines have had a significant impact on our society in many different ways. We take them for granted because we use them constantly, such as in our cars for transportation. Yet we can deepen our appreciation for engines by understanding their most interest history of how they became the servants of mankind that they are today". Anyway, you can paraphrase in your own words and style. But you see that it recapitulates the report in a nutshell. It's like your report were a house and on the front porche you invited your readers into your "house" with your introduction - come, here about engines. Then you took the readers on a tour of the "house" as you covered different main topics about the history of engines (each room was a topic). The conclusion is like your back porch. By referring back to the main ideas (the rooms) and what you'd presented in your introduction (the front porch) in the conclusion, you have the readers "look back" into the whole house. That's a figurative way of thinking about it. I wish you well in school and it appears you enjoy writing. Thanks for your interesting report. Keep up the good work!
