what is best veg steamer to have ?

Question by Wolf: what is best veg steamer to have ?
what is best veg steamer ?

and can i add hot Dog steam with veg steam for dieting ?

or can i add also tunaa or chicken??

Best answer:

Answer by JQuick
There is no best steamer. Pick one with the features you like. It can be simple as the bamboo steamers, or an electric model with multiple layers.

Hot dogs aren't generally good for dieting regardless of how they're cooked. But the steam rising from hot dogs is fat and calorie free, and will only add some odor to other foods that may absorb it. You can steam most meats. You don't get the benefits of browning or the seasoning of cooking with liquids when steaming. If you put a container like a bowl of rice and water, you aren't really steaming. That's boiling with steam. People get confused about the kind of cooking method when they are mixed. Bowls of anything with liquid inside a steamer is boiling, not steaming.

A pressure cooker is better than a steamer in most cases. Putting a trivet into most any pot turns it into a steamer, but a pressure cooker traps the steam to increase the cooking temp inside to up to 250degF, while regular steamers are limited to 212deg.F at sea level or lower temps at higher altitudes. You can cook rice in 6 minutes in a pressure cooker, along with any vegetables or diced lean meats at the same time. You can't do that in a steamer. Plus you can first brown the meat, rice, and aromatic vegetables like onions, garlic, and shallots in the base of the pressure cooker with a little oil, drain the oil, add water, and be done in less than 10 minutes with better flavor, color and texture of the result. You can think of a pressure cooker as a more advanced steamer, while regular steamers are for newbies who don't know how to pressure cook.

Best Pressure Cooker?

Question by Envy: Best Pressure Cooker?
I am looking to buy a Pressure Cooker....what are some of the best pressure cookers (not electric) out there that are highly recommended that are under $ 150. I want one with a good strong whistle and a sturdy ring inside...any insight would be appreciated!

Best answer:

Answer by sweetroll
Unless you are talking about a pressure fryer, they can be a bit pricey. I have never had a pressure cooker 'whistle' so I don't what your talking about there. And the sturdy ring? It's a replaceable rubber gasket.
A basic 6 quart Mirro or Presto can cost $ 40 - $ 60 dollars.
I have a vintage Mirro canning cooker from the 50's. It works great and the gaskets are still made. I have a Presto smaller version that I bought a few years ago for about $ 35.

Which is best for stove top cooking, electric or gas range?

Question by patience: Which is best for stove top cooking, electric or gas range?

Best answer:

Answer by TX2step
Most people seem to like gas, but I hate it. I've converted gas stoves to electric in the last 4 houses I've lived in:) I've had smoothtop cooktops for 30+ years, and would never have anything else. They're easy to clean; heat up quickly and evenly; and you can use them as extra counter space when you aren't cooking......

Life Saver Water Distiller Kit
Featured 27 June 2011 on The Dr. Prepper Show -- Preparedness Radio Network

The Life Saver Non-Electric Steam Water Distiller Kit will purify any and all types of contaminated water, ranging from sea water, polluted well water, river water, flood water, or even sewer water.

The Life Saver Non-Electric Distiller Kit uses a 10 foot length of 316L stainless steel tubing that is wound into a 6 loop condensing coil.

A pressure cooker is used as the boiling chamber, with High Temperature Food/Medical Grade Vinyl Tubing used to connect the pressure cooker to the condensing coil.

The Life Saver Distiller Kit is a Closed-System in which 100% of the steam vapor exiting the pressure cooker is condensed into Pure Distilled Water.

None of the steam vapor can escape into the atmosphere.

The steam distillation process leaves all the impurities behind in the contaminated water.

That is, only Pure Steam Vapor exits the pressure cooker, leaving all organic and inorganic pollutants, lead, other heavy metals and other contaminates behind, since they are not carried in the steam vapor.

Steam Water Distillation is the most reliable stand-alone method for removal of Arsenic from water.

The Non-Electric Life Saver Distiller Kit produces up to 1 ounce per minute of Pure Sterile Distilled Water – which is a faster rate of production than a conventional electric steam water distiller in which the heating coil is immersed in the water in the boiling tank.

The Life Saver Distiller Kit is capable of producing enough potable water each day for the drinking and cooking needs of a family of 3-4 people.

All that is needed is the Life Saver Distiller Kit, a Pressure Cooker, a Water Source and Heat, which can range from a propane stove to an open camp fire with a grate on which to place the pressure cooker.

In addition to the use of the pressure cooker as the boiling chamber, the pressure cooker can be used in its conventional role for cooking bulk food in a reduced amount of time, with minimum expenditure of fuel.

An additional feature of the Life Saver Distiller Kit is that the system is inherently self-sterilizing to eliminate airborne bacteria or other micro-organisms that may have entered the condensing coil between uses.

The condensing coil is self-sterilized by allowing the steam vapor to pass through the coil for 15 to 20 minutes – with the product water thrown away and not consumed.

What are the best small appliances for my future kitchen?

Question by C: What are the best small appliances for my future kitchen?
I'm moving into an apartment in a week, and am trying to plan what I should buy for it. The kitchen already has an oven, microwave, etc... so what I'm looking for are small appliances like a toaster, Foreman grill, and so on. I'm a rookie when it comes to kitchens, so I'm wondering what the most important, most versatile, and most cost effective appliances I can buy are. So far, I'm planning on a toaster, pressure cooker and an electric contract grill. What else should I get?

Best answer:

Answer by bozobabe
I would say that is good unless you cook alot, because in my house my small appliences ( foreman grill, quesadilla maker, waffle iron) get used for about 2 weeks and then never again. you will want your room for pots and pans and food, dont waste your money, microwave and a toaster is good ; )

I don't really get into canning and don't know much about it.
What is the cheapest easiest way to preserve food?
How long will it last?

Pickling or dehydration (freeze dried). Both methods still need refrigeration if you want to keep it very long like a couple of months even a year or two. *
