Can you cook black beans or kidney beans in a rice cooker?

Question by : Can you cook black beans or kidney beans in a rice cooker?
I'm just looking for a more convenient way to cook dry beans.

If you soak them and cook them in a rice cooker they will be fine, I have done mine in the one I have, in my crockpot and an electric pressure cooker too, a rice cooker works on the basis of the weight of the rice and water, as it evaporates the spring in the bottom is tripped when done the water has gone and the weight changes, cook them with no salt as this toughens the skins, add onions, bay leaves and other spices, just remember to give the bowl a good wash or you next rice is going to taste like beans, the aluminium does tend to absorb flavours.
