first you should have a hybrid or electric car, or just ride you bike more, second unplug you electronic devices when you aren't using them since most use 40% of there power when plugged in, and third replace all your lightbulbs with flourescent ones

  1. Anything you can do to reduce your consumption of power.

Drive less by carpooling and grouping your errands. Walk when you can.
Reduce your use of your clothes dryer by hanging clothes outside or on a rack inside. They dry for free! By the time you need the rack again, your clothes are dry. (If you don't have a family.)
Cook your food before you freeze it so you aren't defrosting, heating, then refrigerating and freezing again.
Use a pressure cooker, especially for stews and pot roast. They are very energy efficient. And the food is sterilized, so if you want to cook ahead, you can leave it in the stainless steel pot --not aluminum ones -- and not refrigerate it.
Turn off any appliances you're not using.
Turn off the burner on your electric stove when you still have a few minutes of cooking time left. The heat of the stove top and the pot will continue the cooking.
Get used to your home a little cooler in the winter. Wear a sweater and warm socks inside the house.
In summer, get used to the temp a little warmer. A couple of degrees can really lower your bill, showing you that you're saving energy.
Ask your friends what other ideas they have. If we all make these efforts, we can make a big difference.
