how do you get a presser cooker to work on a gas stove?

Question by Sue L: how do you get a presser cooker to work on a gas stove?
I cant get my pressure cooker to set and jiggle. It just leaks fluid. Seal is good and leaking occurs at top of lid.

  1. The use of a gas stove is not related to your problem. Gas will give you MORE control over temperature, and may even let you achieve higher temperatures than electric.

unless there's something restricting the gas flow, you either need to have the seal on the cooker checked, or to increase the heat setting on the stove.

  2. When you say at the top of the hood, I am assuming you are talking about the vent where the pressure piece fits. If so maybe the little pipe there has some dirt on the top that is keeping the pressure part from fitting on snugly.

If you have a couple of cookers maybe you put the wrong pressure part on this one. If the leaking is at the black rubber insert (safety seal) maybe that has hardened from age and is not tight, requiring replacement.

Gas versus electric stove has nothing to do with it.
